Vienna to Host the Sixth Classic Piano Preliminary Competition

The journey towards the 2028 Classic Piano International Competition will conclude its preliminary stage in Austria, with the Vienna Classic Piano Competition serving as the sixth and final international preliminary contest in the selection process for Classic Piano 2028 in Barcelona.

Taking place from 15–17 October 2027, the Vienna competition will bring together outstanding young pianists from around the world, performing before a distinguished seven-member international jury specially assembled for the occasion.

Competitors will perform across two rounds, competing for a €35,000 prize fund and the opportunity to secure entry to the prestigious, invitation-only Classic Piano International Competition.

Selected finalists will advance to the Grand Finale in Barcelona, taking place from 10–20 September 2028 at the iconic Palau de la Música Catalana. With all expenses covered and a total prize fund of €330,000, the Grand Finale will offer substantial monetary prizes alongside special awards and professional opportunities.

The application deadline for the Vienna Classic Piano Competition is 29 June 2027.

As the sixth and final stop in the preliminary series, Vienna will mark the culmination of the international search for the pianists who will compete at Classic Piano 2028 in Barcelona.
