Seoul to Host the Third Classic Piano Preliminary Competition
The journey to the fourth edition of the Classic Piano International Competition continues in Seoul, with the Seoul Classic Piano Competition serving as the third of six international preliminary contests that will determine the finalists for Classic Piano 2028 in Barcelona.
Taking place in 2027, the competition will welcome outstanding young pianists from across the globe, who will perform before a distinguished seven-member international jury specially assembled for the occasion. As the third event in the worldwide selection series, Seoul will continue the search for the next generation of exceptional pianists, following successful preliminary competitions in London and New York.
Competitors will perform across two rounds, vying for a €35,000 prize fund and, most importantly, the opportunity to secure entry to the prestigious, invitation-only Classic Piano International Competition. The highest-ranked performers will earn their place at the Grand Finale in Barcelona, which will take place from 10–20 September 2028 at the iconic Palau de la Música Catalana.
With all expenses covered for selected finalists and a total prize fund of €330,000 awaiting competitors in Barcelona, the Seoul Classic Piano Competition represents another important step on the road to one of the world's leading international piano competitions. Alongside substantial monetary prizes, finalists will also compete for a range of special awards and career opportunities designed to launch the next generation of internationally acclaimed concert pianists.
As the global journey towards Classic Piano 2028 continues, Seoul promises an inspiring celebration of artistry, excellence, and international talent, further strengthening the competition's growing presence across the world's major cultural capitals.
