Salih Can Gevrek Performs Prize Concert with Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra Following Classic Piano 2024 Success

Acclaimed Turkish pianist Salih Can Gevrek appeared with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra in a special concert that also marked the fulfilment of an important artistic prize awarded at Classic Piano 2024. The performance, presented to Gevrek as a special prize by Eleanor Hope during the prestigious international competition, offered the pianist the opportunity to appear as soloist with one of Turkey’s leading orchestras in a major symphonic programme.

Held under the baton of František Macek at the Lütfi Kırdar Asım Kocabıyık Anatolian Auditorium, the concert featured a richly imaginative repertoire inspired by literature and storytelling. At the centre of the evening was Gevrek’s performance of Alexey Shor’s Suite No. 2 “From My Bookshelf” for piano and orchestra, a colourful and expressive contemporary work arranged by Mikhail Pletnev.

Known for his refined technique and poetic interpretations, Gevrek brought both brilliance and sensitivity to the performance, once again confirming the artistry that distinguished him at Classic Piano 2024.

The programme also included Weber’s overture to Der Freischütz and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy, creating a musical journey from Romantic masterpieces to modern symphonic expression.

This memorable appearance with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra stands as another significant milestone in Salih Can Gevrek’s international career and a shining example of how Classic Piano continues to support outstanding young artists beyond the competition stage.
