Rome to Host the Fifth Classic Piano Preliminary Competition
The journey towards the 2028 Classic Piano International Competition continues in Italy, with the Rome Classic Piano Competition serving as the fifth of six international preliminary contests that will determine the finalists for Classic Piano 2028 in Barcelona.
Taking place from 8–10 September 2027, the Rome competition will bring together outstanding young pianists from around the world, who will perform before a distinguished seven-member international jury specially assembled for the occasion. Following preliminary competitions in London, New York, Seoul and Shanghai, Rome will represent the fifth stage in the international search for the next generation of exceptional pianists.
Competitors will perform across two rounds, competing for a €35,000 prize fund and, most importantly, the opportunity to secure entry to the prestigious, invitation-only Classic Piano International Competition.
Selected finalists will advance to the Grand Finale in Barcelona, taking place from 10–20 September 2028 at the iconic Palau de la Música Catalana. With all expenses covered for selected finalists and a total prize fund of €330,000, the Grand Finale will offer substantial prizes alongside special awards and professional opportunities.
The application deadline for the Rome Classic Piano Competition is 23 May 2027.
As the road to Classic Piano 2028 enters its fifth destination, Rome will bring together emerging pianists from across the globe for another important stage of this international musical journey.
