On February 25, 2025, Rikako Tsujimoto, a second-round participant of the Classic Piano 2024 competition, graced the stage of the Teatro Civico with a highly anticipated concert. The performance, held in the Main Hall of the theater, was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
The evening’s centerpiece, titled “Chopin, the Poet of the Piano,” was a highlight of this year's season at the Teatro Civico. Due to overwhelming demand, the concert, which was originally scheduled for a smaller venue, was moved to the main hall to accommodate the many patrons on the waiting list. Organized by the Fondazione Teatro Civico and the Municipality of Schio, in collaboration with Asolo Musica, the event offered an unforgettable musical experience.
Tsujimoto's performance featured an ambitious program entirely dedicated to the legendary Franco-Polish composer Frédéric Chopin. Known as "the poet of the piano," Chopin was born in 1810 in Poland, where his musical talents became evident at a young age. He moved to Vienna and then to Paris, where he passed away in 1849. Throughout his life, Chopin captured the essence of Romanticism in his compositions, blending dramatic elements, poetic expression, and deep emotion—particularly reflecting his love and longing for his homeland of Poland. The works selected for the evening were mostly composed in the 1830s, a turbulent time for Chopin as he left Warsaw during the Revolution to focus on his composing.
Rikako Tsujimoto, born in 1998, is a rising star in the classical music world. She began her piano studies at the age of 3 and later graduated from the University of the Arts in Tokyo under H. Arimori. Tsujimoto also studied at the "Steffani" Conservatory in Castelfranco Veneto with M. Ferrati and continued her education with C. Martínez Mehner at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. She has been recognized as a finalist and winner in numerous national and international piano competitions, including the prestigious Classic Piano Competition in 2024. Tsujimoto has performed around the globe, captivating audiences in Japan, Italy, the United States, Germany, the Czech Republic, Dubai, Poland, and Spain.
The concert at Teatro Civico was a testament to Tsujimoto’s exceptional talent and her ability to bring Chopin’s works to life in a truly remarkable way, making it an evening to remember for all in attendance.
