New York to Host the Second Classic Piano Preliminary Competition
The road to the fourth edition of the Classic Piano International Competition continues in New York, with the New York Classic Piano Competition serving as the second of six international preliminary contests that will determine the finalists for Classic Piano 2028 in Barcelona.
Taking place from 2–4 June 2027, the competition will welcome outstanding young pianists from around the world, who will perform before a distinguished seven-member international jury specially assembled for the occasion. As the second event in the global selection series, New York will build on the momentum of the inaugural competition in London while bringing together a new generation of exceptional artists eager to earn their place on the international stage.
Competitors will perform across two rounds, vying for a €35,000 prize fund and, most importantly, the opportunity to secure entry to the prestigious, invitation-only Classic Piano International Competition. The top performers will advance to the Grand Finale in Barcelona, taking place from 10–20 September 2028 at the iconic Palau de la Música Catalana.
With all expenses covered for selected finalists and a total prize fund of €330,000 awaiting competitors in Barcelona, the New York Classic Piano Competition represents another major milestone on the road to one of the world's most prestigious piano competitions. Alongside substantial monetary awards, finalists will also compete for a range of special prizes and career opportunities designed to support the next generation of international concert pianists.
As the global journey towards Classic Piano 2028 continues, New York promises three days of exceptional performances, artistic excellence, and unforgettable competition, further cementing the international reputation of the Classic Piano series.
