London to Launch the First of Classic Piano Preliminary Contests

The road to the fourth edition of the Classic Piano International Competition will begin in London, with the London Classic Piano Competition becoming the first of six international preliminary contests that will determine the finalists for Classic Piano 2028 in Barcelona.

Taking place from 2–4 April 2027 at the Royal College of Music, the competition will welcome outstanding young pianists from around the world, who will perform before a distinguished seven-member international jury. As the opening event of the global selection series, London will set the stage for what promises to be the largest and most ambitious edition of Classic Piano to date.

Competitors will perform across two rounds, vying for a €35,000 prize fund and, most importantly, the opportunity to secure a place at the prestigious Classic Piano International Competition. The top performers will advance to the Grand Finale in Barcelona, held from 10–20 September 2028 at the iconic Palau de la Música Catalana.

With all expenses covered for selected finalists and a total prize fund of €330,000 awaiting competitors in Barcelona, the London Classic Piano Competition marks the beginning of an extraordinary international journey for the next generation of concert pianists.
