Congratulations to Zhiquan Wang, Classic Piano 2024 Participant, Winner at the 66th Jaén International Piano Competition

We are delighted to congratulate Zhiquan Wang, participant of Classic Piano 2024, on his remarkable triumph at the 66th Jaén International Piano Competition in Spain. The 15-year-old pianist won the 1st Prize following a brilliant performance of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major, Op. 26 in the final round at the Infanta Leonor Theatre in Jaén.

In addition to the top award of €20,000, a gold medal, and a diploma, Zhiquan Wang will record an album with the prestigious Naxos label and embark on a five-concert tour. His artistry also earned him multiple special prizes, including the Chamber Music Prize, Best Interpreter of Romantic Music, and the “Rosa Sabater” Prize for the best performance of Spanish music. The audience awarded him a bronze piano sculpture in recognition of his captivating performance.

We also celebrate fellow laureates Elia Cecino (2nd Prize) and Roman Lopatynskyi (3rd Prize), whose performances of Tchaikovsky and Brahms, respectively, impressed both the jury and the public.

The 66th edition of the Jaén International Piano Competition brought together 49 participants from 15 countries and highlighted exceptional talent from around the world. Zhiquan Wang’s success continues the tradition of excellence fostered by Classic Piano and confirms him as one of the most promising young pianists on the international stage.
