Classic Piano International Competition Announces Ambitious Fourth Edition in 2028

The Classic Piano International Competition is set to return for its highly anticipated fourth edition, taking place from 9 to 20 September 2028 at the iconic Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. Marking ten years since its founding, this edition promises to be the most ambitious and far-reaching in the competition’s history.

Bringing together exceptional young pianists from around the world, Classic Piano 2028 will celebrate artistry, talent, and musical excellence at the highest level. In the lead-up to the Grand Finale, a global series of six preliminary rounds will take place throughout 2027 in Tokyo, Vienna, New York, London, Rome, and Shanghai, as part of the “Six Ways to Classic Piano” initiative. The top two pianists from each stage will advance to Barcelona to compete in the final round.

Finalists will perform alongside the Franz Schubert Philharmonic, appearing before a distinguished international jury of conductors, agents, and industry leaders. With a total prize fund of €200,000 and extensive global media coverage, the competition continues its mission to support and elevate the next generation of concert pianists.

Offering unparalleled exposure, world-class performance opportunities, and the chance to perform on one of Europe’s most celebrated stages, Classic Piano 2028 stands as a major platform for emerging artists aiming to establish themselves on the international scene.
