Following weeks of intense competition, the 2024 Classic Piano International Competition has now come to an end, and the list of final standings has been released in an awards ceremony that saw Andrey Gugnin take the First Place, Kim Sunah receive the Second Prize, and Anastasiia Kliuchereva take home the Third Prize.


In a final round that started on the 24th of February, nine star pianists took to the stage of Dubai’s Zabeel Theatre for one last time, each presenting a piano concert of their choice alongside the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, who were led by Founder, Artistic Director, and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan.


Following the last performance, the 15 jurors, namely Ashley Wass (UK), Zhe Tang (China), Hüseyin Sermet (Turkey), Marios Papadopoulos (UK), Giuliano Mazzoccante (Italy), Hae-Young Kim (South Korea), Stanislav Ioudenitch (USA), Eleanor Hope (Austria), François-Frédéric Guy (France), Pavel Gililov (Austria), Peter Donohoe (UK), Kirsten Dawes (South Africa/Germany), Epifanio Comis (Italy), Massimiliano Caldi (Italy), and Gisèle Ben-Dor (USA/Israel), retreated to draw up the final standings, with the results being as follows:

  • 1st Place – Andrey Gugnin
  • 2nd Place – Kim Sunah
  • 3rd Place – Anastasiia Kliuchereva
  • 4th Place – Arina Antonosyan
  • 5th Place –.Zhiquan Wang
  • 6th Place – Marek Kozák
  • 7th Place – Yuanfan Yang
  • 8th Place – Artem Kuznetsov
  • 9th Place – Hyounglok Choi

Each of the finalists will take home a part of Classic Piano’s €250,000 total prize fund, with the top three contestants being awarded the lion’s share. As the winner, Gugnin has won €100,000 in cash, as well as a ten-concert tour with a total honorarium of €50,000. Sunah, meanwhile, has received €50,000, and Kliuchereva will depart Dubai with €25,000.


In addition to the competition’s main prizes however, the awards ceremony also saw many participants, including some who were not chosen to proceed to the final, walk away with one or more of the multitude of Special Prizes that were presented by several jury members, the competition’s Artistic Director, Alan Chircop, as well as the organisers of the event.

  • Zhiquan Wang — Special Prize awarded by Mro. Epifanio Comis and Mr Biagio Guerrera, President of the Associazione Musicale Etnea
    • Invitation to Perform a Solo Concert at the Recital Hall of the Bellini Theatre in Catania, Italy
  • Zhiquan Wang — Special Prize awarded by Mro. Gisele Ben-Dor

  • Artem Kuznetsov & Jonathan Mamora — Special Prize awarded by the Ben-Dor Music Discovery Project, represented by Mro. Gisele Ben-Dor
    • $5000

  • Salih Can Gevrek — Special Prize awarded by Ms. Eleonor Hope – Interclassica Music Management
    • Invitation to Perform as Soloist with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra

  • Arina Antonosyan— Special Prize awarded by Ms. Eleonor Hope – Interclassica Music Management
