Due to Covid-19 restrictions, many pianists who had intended to participate in the 14 Ways to Malta 2021 Competitions which were organized in different countries in 2020 - did not manage to travel and participate.
Moreover, some winners of these competitions, who are eligible to participate in the Final Stage in Malta in 2021, have already indicated that they will not be able to travel.
Thus, after the closing date for registrations for Classic Piano 2021, there might be a limited number of finalists who won't be able to participate.
The European Foundation for Support of Culture is glad to announce that these vacant positions will be filled through an online video competition. Application is free of charge.
Closing date for applications will be at noon CET time on 10th January 2021.
Applicants are to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:
1) Name and Surname
2) Date of Birth (competition is open for pianists born after 10.01.1985)
4) Phone number
7) Programme as performed in the recording
8) A private Youtube Link of their 'live and unedited' video recording - maximum 20 minutes and without any cuts in the recorded performance which should include:
a) Any Prelude & Fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier (Book I or II) by J.S. Bach
b) One Etude by Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin or Debussy
c) Three pieces from 'Childhood Memories' by Alexey Shor (scores available for download from here).
The selected finalists will be informed by not later than February 5, 2021. Finalists will need to register for "Classic Piano" 2021 final stage in Malta by not later than 10th February 2021. The repertoire requirements of the final stage in Malta can be found here.
